Description:
The Castello Ruffo of Scilla, sometimes also known as Castello Ruffo of Calabria, is an ancient fortification located on the Scilla promontory, jutting into the Strait of Messina. The castle is the genius loci of the town of Scilla, about 20 km north of Reggio Calabria, and certainly one of the most characteristic and typical elements of the landscape of the Strait and the Reggio area. The castle also hosts one of the lighthouses of the Italian Navy, the Scilla lighthouse.
