Description:
The ruins of Buják Castle are located on a 310-meter-high hill north of the village, surrounded by forested hills, almost completely overgrown with vegetation.
The core of the castle, the old tower, may have been built after the Tatar invasion, but it is first mentioned in a document in 1303. During the castle's adventurous history, it passed from one historical Hungarian family to another, owned among others by the Garai, Báthory, Werbőczy, Bocskai. Its last lords were the Turks, who blew it up after their withdrawal, but remnants of the walls of the Turkish mosque are still visible in the castle today. After that, it no longer had a military role, so it has been continuously decaying ruins since then.
