Ski tour on 13.04.2016.

On the closed Hirschbichlstraße 250 m southwest to Nationalparkstein. Here branch left onto the wide hiking trail towards Bindalm. Flat for 1.5 km through the light alluvial forest until right the Lahnwald Diensthütte appears. Here follow the sign „Ofental/Hochkalter“, turn left and cross Klausbach. The unmarked junction after 100 m into Sittersbachtal leave right and continue on hiking trail 482. After a bend at a wide avalanche track follows a long traverse, then the path goes around a terrain corner. Immediately after, tracks usually branch into Steintal. Who wants to Ofental stays on the marked trail up to approx. 1400 m. (Attention, also at 1340 m sometimes a track branches right towards Steintal.) Here one can already recognize the entrance to the cirque and so sprint roughly along the summer path through ever lighter forest up into the cirque. The following steep step is overcome right, then it goes at ideal steepness through the cirque basin. The saddle (2450 m) between Hochkalter and Ofentalhörndl is reached again over a steep step. From Ofentalscharte keeping left over a moderately steep slope to Schönwandeck (2480m).
