Did you locate and extract the victim quickly? The first stage is complete but there is still much to do. Being swept by an avalanche can have multiple consequences. Are there blunt force injuries? Is the person still breathing? Is the heartbeat perceptible? Has the body temperature dropped significantly? During avalanche rescue courses, these topics are addressed but never adequately deepened. Now is the time to learn how to behave in the various rescue phases.
