This is a more demanding variant compared to the normal route, into which it joins after crossing very steep meadows located further east than the normal route. Raut is one of the highest mountains in the pre-Alpine chain of the province of Pordenone. Its name, in Friulian, means rhododendron. From its summit spectacular panoramas can be admired both towards the Dolomites and towards the plain, as far as the sea. It imposingly dominates the underlying village of Andreis. On the summit of the mountain is placed a large red metal cross, to which the summit log container is attached.
