Description: 10-09-2006 (Filmed with Hitachi VM-E 565 LE Video Camera). Ascent to Cima della Mesola via ferrata delle Trincee. The first section of the ferrata, which climbs almost vertically up the west face of La Mesola, is not recommended for the less experienced. After about 20-25 minutes of nearly vertical ascent, it continues more easily to the summit at 2727 m. The descent on the opposite side is easier, with some exposed sections (including a small suspension bridge) where you are always secured with a rope. The natural continuation of the ferrata, given its name, leads to the tunnels built during World War I along the crests of Padon. With some equipped sections still well exposed, following signs to bivacco Bontadini, you cross some still visible war positions (brick walls, beams) until reaching the famous galleries. From here, you can reach the summit of Mesolina (2642 m a.s.l.) in about ten minutes or descend directly to rifugio Padon in 15 minutes.
