Monte Contrario
Start from Orto di Donna, we park the car near rifugio Donegani, walk back a few hundred meters until we meet a wooden sign saying 'Rifugio Orto di Donna', we start the ascent from there, soon we enter the beech forest, the trail is 180 and we follow it until rifugio Orto di Donna. Once at the rifugio we go left and find signs; one for trail 179 and one for passo delle pecore, we take the left uphill road to 'Passo delle Pecore' the trail now has no markings. Arrived at Passo delle Pecore (no sign indicating it) a beautiful sea panorama opens up before us, here we go left and the ascent to Monte Contrario begins from the unmarked west ridge (my advice is to go with someone who knows the place) and we go a bit by intuition, it is quite exposed and the rock is not solid, you need a steady foot and balance.. be careful! The summit is marked by a small rusty iron sign saying 'M. Contrario 1788', the panorama is beautiful, you can clearly see the sea and the nearby Monte Cavallo, Pisanino, Grondilice and Pizzo d'Uccello.
