Description: Our presenter Lisa Kestel sets out on an exploration tour through beautiful Mainz, the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate. In front of the city is Germany's largest wine-growing region Rheinhessen. No wonder 'Woi' and plenty of 'Schoppen' accompany the Mainzer daily. Around 220,000 inhabitants live here and are just a bridge away from the next federal state and the Hessian state capital Wiesbaden. The Meenzer not only flourish in their carnivalesque season of Fastnacht, science also plays a big role. Mainz was named City of Science in 2011. The ZDF-Mainzelmännchen are certainly famous here, but there are other creative minds that make the city special. So there is a lot to see and discover!
