Description:
North of Artstetten lie the remains of the former fortress Schwarzau. Only two high wall remnants have survived from this obviously small castle. They form a two-part structure that obviously consisted of a tower castle with a bailey. Due to the first mention in 1179, it can be assumed that a wooden castle preceded this stone building, which was built on the hill. Already from the 15th century, the then defensive structure was left to decay.
