Monteleone di Orvieto is an ancient medieval village located at the extreme north of the province of Terni, perched on one of the hills that separate the Orvietano from Città della Pieve, from which one can admire the Tuscan and Lazian hills and mountains and the Chiani Valley; it was due to this strategic position that Orvieto, around 1050, decided to establish a castle there to guard its northern borders.
