It is the sixth largest Italian municipality by population, third in Northern Italy, and fifth by economic movement, whose urban agglomeration has more than 800,000 inhabitants.
Genoa is a jumble of buildings that confuses and disorients. And it is easy to get lost in its alleys that climb silently from the old port up to the tops of the first Ligurian hills. The impression it gives is that of a labyrinth where the only orientation tool is the smell of the sea.
