What about Črlovec parking lot? I don't even know where the barrier is, in Mojstrana? But from 15.11. to 15.3. no payment? I'll just write a book, Why I stopped going to Slovenian mountains? I spend more time on this fu... parking than on planning the hike itself. Here, there will be even more accidents, everyone nervous in the morning.

We two yesterday from the hut at the lake to the Krn summit. Alternating drifted snow to hard windpack. We bypassed the notch with a more direct ascent with all needed gear; crampons, ice axe, ... In some places below the notch it was up to waist-deep, so the ascent took us almost 4.5 hours. How was it today, maybe info at the hut, since two had planned the summit today - we met at the lake during our descent. Good luck, BinJ

@Tatana...How much from Češka to Cojzova hard to say, but about 5 hours should suffice for walking. We haven't done this variant yet, but went towards Kočna last year and maybe click for better idea.

Tatana...what if you changed option 3.

1. day: on the way to Češka koča you bag at least Ledinski vrh, if you have time also Babe

2. day: from Grintovec you go sleep in Cojzova at Kokrsko sedlo.

3. day: from Kokrsko say through Mala vratca over great fields to Štruca and Skuta, down and towards Turski žleb...

In recent days 30-40 cm new snow fell in this area. I was there Saturday but from Davča. From Vrš side generally no issues as mostly road track, summit along ridge. Bigger issue slopes to Davča and esp south-Cerkno. But think hike this weekend, maybe check organizers. PD Cerkno

I can't tell you about the actual conditions. The hoarfrost was very popular yesterday though!

Yesterday (Sunday) at Kotovo sedlo. Descent in upper shady parts really super. Hard base with some powder. Where sun shines though, it doesn't thaw enough and crust breaks through. However such parts up top almost none or easily avoid them. Below crust and softness, so lower part (before forest) quite tricky or watch feet At 13:00 sun starts retreating from upper parts and starts refreezing.

Has anyone gone up the gully to Vrtača in the last two days? I'm interested in the amount of snow?

Just to conclude ... if memory serves, on the Božca pasture there's also a mix of goat and cow milk: approx. 25% goat and the rest cow. Bon appétit!

Mountains around Kobarid (say Božca under Stol and Sleme under Stador) have cheese for 10 or 11 € per kg, so this one for 16€ is really more expensive. Of course, as much as the economy allows. And don't say that Kobarid cheese is bad!
