Interesting information...

Yes road manager covering his back which is quite reasonable, but question how much attention average visitor to ITA side Kanin ski area pays to such sign... I would dare claim that to many Sunday SLO or also foreign visitor such roadside sign does not give much to think and continues unburdened... It had me right and I went to see how we do on our side. Here I dug up picture on Kranjska Gora side of Vršič. No comment!

As much as I have in memory last year at that other place the avalanche must have reached at least to road if not already across (near stone remains of buildings) and if I am not mistaken with last year's record snow amounts new dangerous avalanche deposit formed right above road left already almost when arriving in Nevea. No joke if something like that "hits" possibilities really not many but never know...

I skied on our side of Kanin some 10 or 11 years ago and remember that they were just "pulling" one skier out of crevasse! Don't know it seems to man like they are not interested in talking too much and warning about hundreds of crevasses in surroundings... Actually at all no need beyond run, enough that you are in "right" spring conditions on fairly new run towards Prevala and already you can visit underworld... Must say that I am really surprised that there are not more fatalities in our hills connected precisely with crevasses! Too little warning about them already at foothills on information...

Thanks for the information Igor!

Road is officially closed then... Obviously, if I understood correctly, on the other side it's unofficially drivable at own risk?

Connection via Reklanska valley isn't problematic regarding avalanches or am I wrong... From that end I've never come yet...

Aha, so Italians will still "blast" the high mountains in summer to establish the avalanche triggering system also on this side.

Best regards

Nice regards,

I'm curious about the avalanche danger; I mean the path from Sedlo v Žlebeh to planina Pecol. As far as I remember, this path isn't threatened. But how about the exposure regarding level 4 on planina Pecol itself? If going, I'd probably go to those lower pastures.

Also curious about the road through the valley past Rabeljsko Lake towards sedlo v Žlebeh after such heavy snowfall. At least at 2 spots, potential avalanche paths cross it...

And this interesting display of helicopter operation with sound from this morning. (source web camera on ITA side Kanin)

Thanks for info
