From Rudno polje, my wife and I set off past the ski slope and along the summer path (NE above Planina Konjščica). The path to Jezerca on this route is initially quite well trodden but later when you're almost above Planina Konjščica the trail is narrow and icy... Above the mentioned pasture the path goes 200m straight down (not in the direction of the summer path, we tried but too much postholing - powder) to the pasture and then along the well-trodden path to Jezerca...
From Jezerca we swing left towards Studorski preval. Just before the pass we turn right under the ridge and follow tracks from ski tourers...(DO NOT FOLLOW SKI TOURERS' TRACKS)...cool
Judging by the tracks we were the first in a long time to go up on foot here, tracks were erased by new powder...
For hiking we used crampons, on some parts the crust broke through fairly well even to the knees - but crampons to the upper slope of Draški vrh aren't so necessary, at the end they're almost essential as ice slabs appear....
After reaching the summit we go back the same path to Jezerca and then towards Srenjski preval. No footpath to the pass, so the crust postholes in some spots. Somewhere halfway to the top of the pass we turn right and head (following fresh tracks into a narrow about 100m high gully (climbing route, last 10m wind-blown soft powder - CAUTION!!!) through which we reach the central gully - SW under Viševnik. Then to the ridge top and right to Viševnik summit..
Path from Viševnik hiked and skied and partly icy (no more square meter of untrodden surface)...eek
Nice hiking-climbing tour especially because it was cloudy and gloomy in the valley and above 1300m fairy tale without a cloud...nasmeh

Yeah, if you read one answer before you, Viharnik has written quite well "at ski selection one needs to exactly know why they will be used, only then more detailed choose among producers"... nobody promotes any brand ... we just wrote what we use....nasmehmežikanje

I use skis ELAN Alasaka pro for recreational use and for the time of so-called enjoying touring skiing.... quite versatile ski... for use on artificial ice snow of groomed resorts maybe for me a bit too soft but otherwise for normal skiing on resort very ok and responsive ski.. for use on touring descents off resorts really very good and praiseworthy material.... lpM
mpolo3. 01. 2016 20:29:42
As already mentioned, at Nejc in the shop there are all types of skis from competitive to recreational... also freeride or skis for free-style skiing... which you can easily and successfully use also on groomed ski resorts... no problem... the best is a direct visit to the shop and contact with Nejc and he can directly advise on the type and model of skis according to needs... lpM
mpolo3. 01. 2016 19:58:04
Oh!!
I agree with Janez... in the mentioned shop Nejc Kuhar works - the best Slovenian representative in competitive touring skiing and a person who also advises recreational skiers very well... on a visit (he works mainly in the afternoons), he will advise you very well and practically based on your personal needs and wishes... besides, he personally organizes touring ski gatherings (first round starts 5th JAN at Stari vrh ski resort..)... through Nejc you can, in the framework of these gatherings, also borrow all touring equipment (skis, boots..) to test and see what fits you and decide more easily for a possible purchase... contact him on the email you get from the 11-11 shop page... through Nejc I have already bought a lot of equipment in the 11-11 shop and must praise the advice and quality of the equipment... lpM

TRIPLE IN LITTLE MOJSTROVKA!!jezik

Start 6.30am from Vršič..(depending on goal and weather/snow conditions at least 1h too late!!!! +3 degrees at start!!!)jezen

Ascent to MM via Župančičeva, descent via Pripravniška, repeat ascent via Butinarjeva (partly) and descent thru Vratca back to car....

Conditions to entry of Župančičeva ideal (hard, crampons on halfway to entry)
First 150m of couloir ideal but once in sun zone already softened. Especially turning left up from mid open gentle part to MM summit there slush after 8am already flowing lots and pretty sun-soft (small rock step at start of last part..for now no big deal-stretch over slush ice axe in moss ice and go)...WARNING big serac at couloir exit right above it...so it might (see pic) with spring temps soon crash over couloir to valley....

Summit no wind..coolslush drunk and down thru Pripravniška.Couloir still good..Upper part small step STILL NOT problematic...since sun not direct on worst parts yet snow good for descent (better for ascent sure)...mežikanje

Repeat ascent--- Butinarjeva. From parking saw couloir not filled step in last third bare..so at start and entry decided bypass and climb left...Conditions worst of three couloirs..sun hits right after sunrise so by 9am very soft...To rock step normal (snow sun-soft not much)..15m before step left to small couloir that ends quick then steep exposed. Ice axes only in moss, bushes or greenery available or dig out (MIX)zmeden..only greenery still frozen EXCELLENT holds now..out of hard part or 15m above step lots new drifted snow punches thru to knees some to waist so snow exit (like us) good leg workoutcool...from step normal up lots greenery inside prob better...As said we bypassed step 5m left exposed..But still possible bypass right by step in small couloir (less exposed than ours still mix not full)) BUT WITH WEATHER NO VARIANT LONG....mrk pogled
Then descent thru Vratca to parking...under 4hrs enjoyment nice morning used..nasmeh

Today towards Viševnik...Main goal mainly to TEST THE SNOWPACK....From Zlate Vode I went left to the ridge...continued along the ridge to the first slope approx 30 degrees and went OVER...there I moved a bit right (EAST) from the ridge towards the gully and before the first small gully I did a stability test.... For that I took my time and did all three test methods...
(Norwegian,American or Canadian, and at the end also Swiss (slightly modified)...snowpack height at the profile was 90 cm....ALL THREE METHODS SHOWED THAT CONDITIONS ARE UNSTABLE mrk pogledmrk pogled (probably even worse inside the gully)zmedenzmeden.Under this new snow (approx 30 cm powder) there is a very dangerous 10 cm thick hard layer which is not bonded to the snow below..with this new on top it's bonded somewhat better. But in tests this 10 cm layer smoothly separated from the lower and upper parts...(textbook case of poor stability)...Safest conditions are only along the ridge..and even here I wouldn't recommend carefree riding all over for at least a few days....zmedenzmeden

Stay safe and smart!!!!!!

yesterday afternoon buried young skier on Zadnjem Voglu..read http://www.zurnal24.si/crna-kronika/vogel-nesreca-plaz-159245...

During snowfall wind was blowing too making quite some wind slabs not bonded to base....all that needs to settle now...CAUTIONeek

Nice greetings!!!

Triglavski... approximately how much time is needed for the circular path from Dom Petra Skalarja via Zadnji Dol to Visoki Kanin, then via Kaninska škrbina and below Hudim vršič back to the hut or D station (about 4-5 hours???zmeden). Fitness-wise we (4 men) are well-prepared and also often in the mountains...

How is the path from Dom Petra Skalarja via Vrh Laške Planje, Mali Kanin to Visoki Kanin..

Thanks in advance for the answer!!!

Nice greetings

On Ojstrica via Kopinškova I was on Monday 6.7.09!!I had winter gear (ice axe, crampons...)-but for ME no need to use them...
Conditions ok, all protections OK, one small snowfield (15m traverse) just near the top (S side), but yeah snow quite soft so you can make steps nicely and cross safely-for any case (safety against slip) recommend ice axe...
Descent via Škarje back to Klemenča jama. Also on this descent one small snowfield, same soft and easy to cross..

Today with my wife we did "turco"-VRATA-LUKNJA-BOVŠKI GAMSOVEC-DOVŠKA VRATCA-POGAČNIKOV DOM-DOVŠKA VRATCA-SOVATNA-VRATA!

The path to Bovški Gamsovec can be done with summer gear (although we were fully winter equipped, as we planned to go to Stenar too).
The path to Luknja in the upper part (after scree) is still quite soft or the scree is sprinkled-better option until it's better trodden I think is the path from Vrata towards Sovatna and then past the bivouac under Luknja and then to Luknja...
Luknja-Bovški Gamsovec very well marked path and approach no problem. Same for Gamsovec-Dovška Vratca-Pogačnikov dom...
Since a thunderstorm surprised us on the way back from Pogačnikov dom and Stenar was completely in clouds we decided for direct descent through Sovatna. Path from Stenar gates towards Stenar summit still under snow and without winter gear-I don't recommend going there (steep slope, hard packed snow, slip risk.....)
Conclusion -descent via Sovatna. OK mostly dry trodden path-but twice descend snowy scree-one scree fairly flat can "ski" on boots.Lower scree quite steep have to manage a bit and cross it at the edge on steepest part then traverse--but no major problem...When path from Sovatna reaches forest edge just a bit awkward walking cos lots of fallen trees and bushes (due to snow slides) right on path-but just pave your way at end and do some jumps,bends,squats..)velik nasmeh
Otherwise overall-excellent loop, bit messed by rain on return but we're not sugar, main no thunder and lightning...nasmehnice regards
