Schafboden is 2400 meter high peak and is part of the Silvretta Alps. The peak is located 1.6 km west-northwest of peak Breitfielerberg. The nearest mountain hut is Alpe Garnera, located 2km west-southwest. A little further is bivouac Unterstand Klettergarten Rifa. North-northeast of the summit is the valley Montafon.
