Mittlerer Kofel is 2834 meter high peak and is part of the National Park Stelvio. The peak is located 3 km northeast of peak Monte Cevedale. The nearest mountain hut is Martellerhütte - Rifugio Martello, located 2km east-northeast. A little further is Julius Payer Stadl. 7 km northeast of the peak there is lake Zufritt-Stausee - Lago di Gioveretto. 3 km east from the summit there is glacier Ultenmarktferner - Vedretta Ultima, 5 km west-northwest from the summit there is also glacier Suldenferner - Vedretta di Solda. Northeast of the summit is the valley Martelltal.
