Mastaun is 3203 meter high peak and is part of the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located 6 km southwest from the center of Unser Frau - Madonna and 6 km southwest from the center of Vernagt - Vernago. The nearest mountain hut is Similaunhütte - Rifugio Similaun, located 10km north-northeast. Closer is bivouac Schäferhütte, which is located 5km to the southeast. 7 km northwest from the summit there is glacier Ramudelferner - Vedretta di Ramudla, 7 km northwest from the summit there is also glacier Lagaunferner - Vedretta di Lagaun.
