Kienberg is 760 meter high peak and is part of the Upper Austrian Prealps. The peak is located 8 km east-southeast from the center of Molln and 8 km southeast from the center of Sonnseite and 4 km north of peak Vorderreuterstein. The nearest mountain hut is Polz Hütte, located 6km south-southwest. A bit closer is Toif, which is located 5km to the west-northwest. East-northeast of the summit is the valley Neustiftgraben.
