Hinteres Ächsele is 1525 meter high peak and is part of the Allgäu Alps. The peak is located 4 km southeast from the center of Jungholz and 4 km north-northeast from the center of Schattwald. The nearest mountain hut is Haus Schattwald, located 4km south-southwest. A little further is Mittlere Stuibenalpe. The peak is located north of the valley Tannheim valley.
