No fireworks and pyrotechnic products during the holiday season.
Also this year, ahead of the upcoming holidays, we remind that the use of pyrotechnic devices in the natural environment of Triglav National Park is prohibited, and we also call for non-use in settlements.
The banging and flashing of pyrotechnic products is not unpleasant only for people and pets outdoors or in homes, but also for wild animals and farm animals.
For wild animals, many of which are protected to preserve their species, fear and panic flight due to noise and flashing consume a lot of energy. In winter, when food in the natural environment is not plentiful, they can hardly compensate for it.
In addition to noise, the use of pyrotechnic devices causes additional air pollution, as a lot of toxic particles are released during explosions. Measurements show that concentrations of these particles are greatly exceeded precisely on New Year's Eve night. Among the often overlooked negative impacts are also aesthetic ones. New Year's morning "adorns" many party venues, even in the mountains, with remnants of firecrackers and rockets, which are an ugly reminder of the night's events.
Due to all negative impacts on nature, the use of pyrotechnic devices in the natural environment of Triglav National Park is prohibited. Every year, various campaigns take place in the park area to raise awareness among residents and visitors of the park to respect the law and nature and to give up pyrotechnics. The Public Institute Triglav National Park (PI TNP) also calls for non-use of pyrotechnics in urban environments of the park or in settlements, as banging and flashing can be heard and seen far beyond the edges of settlements into the natural environment.
As is customary these days, intensified supervision by the nature conservation supervision service of Triglav National Park is also taking place this year.
Also this year, with the animated film below, we draw attention to how the use of pyrotechnics disturbs animals.
At the same time, this year too, the Public Institute Triglav National Park supports and promotes the call of the Municipality of Kranjska Gora to residents and visitors to give up pyrotechnic products.
