New snow has additionally loaded the weak layers in the old snowpack. Dangerous are places with wind-blown snow and shady aspects, where a weak layer is present deep in the snowpack.
During the day, snowfall will continue, winds from southern directions will redistribute new snow and build larger drifts. Snow avalanches will release spontaneously, possibly larger ones too. We advise against visiting the high mountains in current conditions! In parts of the mid-mountains where it is raining, wet snow avalanches and glide avalanches may occur.

On the weak snowpack, a large amount of snow has fallen in previous snowfalls. During the day, snowfall will continue, the snow line will mostly fluctuate between altitudes of 1100 m and 1400 m. In this snow episode, 60-80 cm of new snow will fall in the high mountains by Thursday morning. South to southeast wind, which will strengthen during the day, will build new drifts on the lee sides of ridges. In the old snowpack, deep and persistent weak layers are present. The snowpack is unstable.
Weather
Cloudy and foggy with precipitation, which will be stronger midday and in the afternoon. Snow line between 1100 and 1400 m. South to southeast wind will strengthen. Temperature at 1500 m from -1 °C to 1 °C, at 2500 m around -3 °C.
Outlook
Some new snow will fall in the coming days too, conditions will remain demanding.
