Risk assessment
The danger of avalanche release is above 1800 m MODERATE, level 2, lower down LOW, level 1. The snowpack is already well transformed and outside the highest part of the high mountains already softened in the morning. Smaller areas of windpacked snow have mostly bonded well with the older base. The main danger is wet snow avalanches, which are possible already in the morning hours. During the day, some slab avalanches may also release.

Snow conditions
In the last few days, under the influence of sun and spring temperatures, the snowpack has transformed faster. Highest in the high mountains, a slight crust may form on the surface in the morning, which will soften during the day. Elsewhere, the snowpack is wet and did not refreeze overnight.

Forecast weather development
Today, on Monday, it will be cloudy and foggy, in the afternoon precipitation will gradually start appearing in the Julian Alps. The snow line will be at around 2500 m above sea level. Weak to moderate southwest wind will blow. Temperature at 1500 m will be around 8 °C at midday, at 2500 m around 1 °C. On Tuesday, cloudy and foggy with precipitation, which will slightly weaken in the afternoon and mostly stop overnight to Wednesday. The snow line will persist at altitudes around 2500 m. Moderate to strong southerly wind will blow. Temperature at 1500 m will be around 8 °C at midday, at 2500 m around 1 °C. On Wednesday partly clear with variable cloudiness, local showers and thunderstorms will appear in the mountains. Moderate wind from southerly directions will blow. On Thursday cloudy, precipitation will strengthen again during the day.

Tendency of snow conditions
On Tuesday, the avalanche danger will TEMPORARILY INCREASE and be above 1700 m CONSIDERABLE, level 3. It will snow only in the highest parts of our mountains, elsewhere rain will wet and destabilize the snowpack. Wet snow avalanches and possibly gliding avalanches will release. Cornices may also collapse somewhere. New snow will be a problem only on the highest peaks of our mountains.
