In this month's theme, we write about names – mountains, walls, routes and also about trademarks of our mountaineering equipment. You have surely heard of at least one dispute over the naming of one of the mountains, peaks, pastures, not to mention places. There have already been quite a few bitter debates on forums and later on social networks about this, which mostly ended with the conclusion that their participants agree only that they disagree (Mangart - Mangrt, Prisojnik - Prisank ...). Naming routes after the first climbed or skied premier route is one of the sweeter tasks, concludes Iztok Tomazin.
We spoke with caver Matic Di Batista about what drew him into caves, into eternal darkness, how a compass works in the depths, where he went the deepest and in which cave the longest ... A very interesting conversation that brings us closer to both the caver and caving.
The second interview is with Marija Kurnik, alpinist, initiator of the "1000 movements" exercise for all generations on the sports ground in Ljubljana's Šiška, also librarian at the Alpine Association of Slovenia, above all a 94-year-old lady who still climbs and loves people.
