Farewell to the Old Tower on Planina nad Vrhniko

We will have to say goodbye to the old observation tower
The days of the old tower are numbered; we are only waiting for the confirmed “Safety plan for demolition and replacement construction of the tower” and suitable weather, and Franc Križaj, Šuštar d.o.o. with their team, with the help of a truck crane owned by Dvig d.o.o., will start “taking measurements” of the old observation tower.
You still have time to nicely bid farewell to this 53-year-old veteran that has so picturesquely marked the Vrhnika area for a good half-century. You can also treat yourself to a lasting memory of it. Anyone who has climbed it since autumn has noticed that all the stairs are numbered, with the purpose of selling them as a “precious” memory of the tower to interested enthusiasts. The price of a stair is 10.00 €, and reservations are accepted at the shelter, where you register officially, and the stair will be yours at that price, but only if you are the only one registered under the chosen number. If there are multiple interested parties for one stair, they will auction it among themselves, and the best bidder can take it home, while others will have to choose another. All this will happen on the day of the tower's opening. Anyone who carefully examines the stair sales book will see that number 1 is dedicated to the initiator of this idea, Marijan Smrtnik, stairs number 32 and 33 are already sold, and many are already reserved. In this way, you will also help achieve the goal we all set together, namely that the tower will open on May 10, 2007.
