Description of mountain:
Mali Petrovac is a rather low hill located somewhere on the border between Banija and Kordun, as well as Pannonian Croatia and Gorski Kotar. The summit is entirely covered in forest. The old name of the mountain is Gvozd, which means forest. Somewhere on the mountain, King Petar Svačić died in battle against the Turks, after which the mountain was named after him. Near the summit is a huge monument to the revolution of the people of Kordun and Banija, which is unfortunately now abandoned and decaying. The monument stands on Veliki Petrovac summit, and many believe this is also the highest peak of Petrova gora. In reality, the slightly higher Mali Petrovac lies a little further north. Both summits are in the forest and offer no views.
Roughly in the heart of Petrova gora lies the Muljava hunting lodge, an ideal starting point for the ascent. The lodge is open year-round and stocked, and it is possible to overnight there as well.
The peak is a popular goal for hikers from Vojnić and Vrginmost, as well as from Karlovac and Glina.
