Žička kartuzija - Stolpnik (Žička kartuzija - Stolpnik - Črešnjice)

Access to starting point:
A) From the Maribor - Ljubljana highway, take the Tepanje exit and follow the road ahead towards Draži vasi and Žičam. In Žičah, turn right in the direction of Špitalič and Žička kartuzija. By the kartuzija there are enough parking spaces available for safe parking.
B) From Frankolovo through Črešnjice and the settlement Sojek to Žička kartuzija
C) From Poljčane through Loče, Žiče and Špitalič to the kartuzija.

Route description:
After a short tour of the Žička kartuzija complex, we head right uphill into the hill, following the signposts for Slovenske Konjice, Stolpnik and Tri križe. In the first part there is a forest path, in the central part there are meadows, pastures, fields, homesteads and holiday homes along a partly asphalted and macadam connection. There are quite a few views. At the junction Trije križi we turn left, right for Skala, and soon reach Tri križe.
At Trih križih we continue left for Stolpnik and somewhere after about 100 meters we turn right in the direction of Krniški rob and along a varied forest road we reach Grofov štant.
From Grofov štant uphill along a forest path we reach the summit of Stolpnik with a lookout tower.
From Stolpnik we descend following the signposts in the direction of Črešnjice. Excellently marked classic mountain path, which here and there due to numerous logging operations also turns into a forest gully. Deciduous forest predominates, here and there also conifers and partly rocky terrain.
The described path measures around 9000 meters, 670 positive elevation meters and 570 negative elevation meters. From Črešnjice there is an option to descend along the asphalt connection/road to Žička kartuzija.
