Zelenjak (Mihanovićev dol) - Cesargradska gora

Access to starting point:
A) We arrive in Croatia through the border crossing Bistica ob Sotli / Razvor. We go in the direction of the settlement Klanjec and drive through the settlements Kumrovec and Risvica. In the gorge of the river Sotla, which is called Zelenjak, we will notice a memorial, which is a monument to the Croatian anthem, and next to it a smaller parking lot where we can leave the vehicle.
B) We arrive in Croatia through the border crossing Orešje na Biozeljskem / Klanjec and continue in the direction of the settlement Kumrovec through the gorge of the river Sotla to Zelenjak and a smaller parking lot.
c) We leave the motorway Macelj-Krapina-Zagreb at the exit Zabok and drive further in the direction of the settlements Klanjec and Kumrovec until we reach Zelenjak.

Route description:
The path starts in the gorge of the river Sotla, which is called Zelenjak. Here Antun Mihanović is said to have gotten his inspiration for the Croatian anthem "Lijepa naša domovino". Our path also starts at the large monument.
At the beginning, we go in the direction of the settlement Tuhelj and walk on asphalt. Soon we arrive at the next junction and go to the village Podgora, where we leave the asphalt and enter the forest.
The path is quite steep at the beginning, then it flattens. After the flat section, we reach a belt of shrubbery, where the path becomes quite steep again and, especially on the descent in rain, quite slippery.
Higher up, we reach a wider forest track and turn right towards the west. The path ascends gently and becomes narrower. When we reach a sharp left bend, the path takes us to the steep western slopes. Through the tree canopies, we will also notice the neighboring Kunšperk, and the path becomes steeper again.
Further on, we will notice a hunting observation post along the path, where there is a poorly visible turn-off to the nearby spring.
After the turn-off, we quickly reach a supply road and a few meters further the mountain hut, which is open on Sundays and stocked only with drinks; it is also possible to spend the night there.
If we continue from the hut towards the north, we are in a few minutes at the interesting fort Cesargrad, which unfortunately is decaying.
To the summit, we go from the hut in a long right bend to the south. The path leads us gently along a wider track through the forest to the top.
On the top there is a large communications facility. The view is towards the northeast.
