Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the Lesce exit and drive towards Bled. When we arrive in the mentioned tourist town, we drive straight through the traffic-light intersection, and after 50 meters (before the telephone booths) we turn left. The road goes left uphill and then right - past hotels Kompas and Golf, (flat for approx. another 250 m), whereupon we turn right in the direction of Straža, Garni hotel Berc. Here we stick to the left direction and follow the signs "Straža", which on a narrower road brings us to a large parking lot below the ski slope (also summer sledding ground) with a chairlift. This is the starting point of the path.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we go a few meters back, where on the left side we notice the path into the forest and next to it signposts. When we step onto the mentioned path, it first leads us along the fence of a luxurious villa, and soon it begins to ascend gently to the right. Two more paths join from the left, but we always stick to the right. The path immediately starts to ascend in zigzags towards the summit. Then, when we come to a bench, the path begins to have the appearance of slight exposure. A few meters further, a wooden fence also offers help, which accompanies us in the next two turns to a small bridge and stone steps. After ascending the latter, we are almost at the top. Here, on the left, there is a roof that offers shelter during a storm, and we continue along the far right edge, which soon brings us to the top of the small drag lift. From here we look towards SW, where we notice an ascending cart track (ski slope in winter). When we reach it, it brings us to the upper station of the chairlift, where there is a refreshment stand with a terrace and an info board.
We continue past the chairlift (carefully when operating) into a small ascent towards SW. Here the path leads us left and slightly downwards to a viewpoint with a bench (there are a few more similar ones on the path). From here we head left again, where the path along the edge of the summit in the direction east brings us through a nice little forest to the monument of Arnold Rikli.
A circular path runs along the summit of Straža (along the trim trail), which continues behind the monument and brings us back to the previously mentioned cart track.

Discussion about the trip Želeče (Bled) - Straža (Rikli Path)

I was up there today. Once you reach the top of the stairs, everything stops, in short, left to myself. Marking is poor, at the top I could only look for some signs that would direct me to Rikli's monument, unfortunately I didn't find them, even though I was only about 30 m from it. Overall impression - thumbs down!

Indeed, from the top of the stairs onwards it's less well marked, but hand on heart, orientation is very easy (you just go towards the top of the ski slope), and if you read the description a bit better (or copy it somewhere), you can hardly go wrong. From the chairlift onwards, the marks lead you past viewpoints with benches to the goal.

I don't know heinz if my orientation failed, or if autumn enchanted me with its colors and leaves so I didn't find the desired goal. Anyway, the path, although short, is very interesting and just right to sweat before work.

As part of a longer trip around the lake we climbed Straža last Saturday too. We read this description only afterwards and didn't even know about the Rikli monument. The signs could really point to it better. More about our feat can be read here.

Hello, since we're heading to the adventure park in Bled next weekend, I'm wondering if we need to go up this path to reach that park, because it says the Straža ski slope is at the top. regards

No Petruš, you can also reach the adventure park on Straža by road (gravel road) that runs under the chairlift and soon turns left. The path described above is just a slightly faster ascent variant.

Can we also reach it via this path or do we have to start the path somewhere else, because we haven't explored here yet and don't know where to go up, as we want to go on foot, we wouldn't want to take the chairlift. lp

Of course, this path leads to the top of Straža, where the adventure park is located. The chairlift anyway doesn't run all the time. On the upper path there are two variants possible. At the 5th picture instead of right, continue straight. From the forest we exit a few minutes before the top, where there is the catering facility and the mentioned adventure park. You can't get lost on the path, as you walk all the time towards the top of the hill.

Evening walk around Bled today. It looks a bit mysterious. Lots of snow, few people, fallen century-old trees, road around the lake closed. Started snowing again and under Straža the breaking of trees could already be heard. Hope it's not too serious. Regards

I know it's a bit late to write a comment here below but better late than never. Anyone who has at least once in their life stepped out of their block into nature will find the monument at the top of Straža, because there are only two paths at the top, or even one kind of circular variant It is true that if you can't even turn into the local shop without checking the signs to make sure, then you're beyond help heinz regarding the 5th picture you're wrong. That's just a slightly longer variant to the "shelter from the storm" picture 13. or to Mala Straža, which is one of the 4 viewpoints. (two are listed in the photos, one is right above the top station of the chairlift, the fourth is oriented towards SE and specifically near the monument) lp
