Access to starting point:
From Kamnik we drive towards Gornji Grad or Črnivec. In Stahovica at the crossroad we turn right (Gornji Grad). We drive past hamlets Črna, Potok and Podstudenec to the hamlet Žaga. In the village Žaga a forest road branches off to the left, here is the beginning of the path (on the opposite side there is a right turn-off for Podstudenec). In the village there is no space for parking, therefore we drive approx. 100 m ahead, where on the right side there is a large space for dumping logs - here we can park, but in such a way that we don't hinder possible forestry work.
Route description:
At the beginning of the forest path we immediately see the first blaze right on the rock. We follow the road approx. 100 m, when a steep cart track with signpost "pl. Kisovec" branches off to the right (unmarked path, full of crossings). We go straight ahead and after a few minutes we come to a torrent and cross it. Immediately afterwards we turn right upwards over the slope with fallen trees. Here the path is completely untraceable although blazes are still visible on individual rocks. We keep to the direction along the torrent upwards and somewhat more to the left. After approx. 100 m we come to a transverse path towards the left, where we spot the blazes again. We follow the poorly beaten path, aided by frequent blazes. Soon the first fallen trees block the path, we bypass them in a wide arc to the left or right. The path becomes flatter again, up to the second fallen trees. Here it is best to go before the fallen trees steeply upwards to the right and catch the marked path which comes from the left. We continue along the indistinct ridge, then right into the slope past a spring to a rock, where there is a nice view. At the rock to the left, across the grassy slope over rocks and obliquely upwards past the rocky pillar. Before the pillar we cross a beaten path. Steeply upwards over the slope named Strmina. At the rock with inscription "ŽAGA" we turn left. The path winds among low bushes and trees along an indistinct edge. Soon we step out of the forest and spot the hut and the mountain hut on pl. Kisovec.

Discussion about the trip Žaga - Dom na Kisovcu (via Strmina)

The path is demanding due to fallen trees in the lower section and poorly maintained trail in the upper section. The path is mostly steep and prone to slipping - especially on descent. The sparse markings are helpful, quite a few of them are on rocks. Path not suitable in snow.
