Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive over Vršič Pass towards Bovec or vice versa, but only to the 49th hairpin bend of the Vršič road (near the village of Trenta). Here, turn onto the side road towards the source of the Soča River. After a short ascent, the road quickly leads to the parking lot in front of the hut at the Soča source, but we continue left over the bridge and follow the road to the parking lot at the end of the road (at the parking lot, notice the mountain signs for Bavški Grintavec, the Suhega potoka waterfalls, and Jalovec).
Route description:
From the parking lot, continue along the road barred by a barrier in the direction of Bavški Grintavec. Continue slightly left along the road running along the bed of Suhega potok, while to the right a path leads towards the shelter under Špičkom and Jalovec. We walk along the mentioned road for some time, then the path crosses the mentioned bed. At the crossing, be somewhat more attentive as the trail is not visible here. On the other side, we can spot a wooden post with signposts. On the other side, the gentle path first leads past a few private huts and then runs through the forest along the left side of the bed for a while. Further along, we will notice quite a few fallen trees beside the path, resulting from snow avalanches. A bit later, the path brings us to a marked junction where the path to Zapotoški slapovi branches off to the left; we continue right towards Bavški Grintavec.
The path then quickly leads us to the bed of a torrent where the trail becomes somewhat lost again. We continue a few meters along the bed, then cross it slightly to the right and head towards another torrent bed visible slightly to the right. We start ascending along the left side of the mentioned bed, and the path becomes clearly visible again. After a short ascent, the path leaves the mentioned bed and turns decisively left.
Here we first cross slopes covered with bushes and dwarf pines, then the path leads us into a sparse forest. Further on, the path occasionally ascends somewhat steeper; on a short section, a few pegs assist us, helping us reach a viewpoint where a cross is also placed. Further ahead, the slopes we cross become even steeper, requiring some caution. The path here crosses several short steep gullies, occasionally aided by fixed protections.
Further on, the path mostly runs through the forest, but occasionally offers nice views of the peaks above Zadnja Trenta.
We continue mostly traversing up the steep slopes, and somewhat higher, a view towards the Zapotoški slapovi opens from the path.
The path soon withdraws from the steep slopes above the valley and leads us through the forest to Planina Zapotok. On the pasture, which has not been active for a long time, we continue to the shepherd's hut; on the left side under the hut, we will also notice a stream originating nearby.
Starting point - junction to waterfalls 0:30, junction to waterfalls - Planina Zapotok 1:10.

Along the route: Odcep k slapovom (1009m), V koncu (1076m)

Discussion about the trip Zadnja Trenta (Flori) - Planina Zapotok

The path is poorly maintained and quite dangerous in places. I hiked or climbed it in July 2025. It is a narrow path above cliffs with poor or no protection. In several places, pegs and cables were installed in the (distant) past. Since then, various landslides and other mishaps have "ensured" that new exposed sections have appeared, which are unprotected. At one point I had to cross a dangerous gully where the path is damaged and there is no protection. Only in the style of sport climbing did I manage to get over that section, and if I had fallen there or a hold had broken off, I would have fallen straight into the abyss. Shame, because Planina Zapotok is very beautiful.

Also: some pegs are loose and unreliable. The path needs renovation.
