Access to starting point:
From Ljubljana, we drive to Kranj on the old road. At the first traffic light before the road starts descending, we turn left. We then follow the road to an intersection, where a signpost points us to the right in the direction of Sveta Marjeta. This road, which circles the slopes below Šmarjetna gora, we follow to an intersection, where a signpost points us to the left upwards in the direction of the village Zabukovje... For hikers to sv. Jošt from the direction of Zabukovje, the municipality of Kranj has built a free parking lot along the main road to Besnica, because in Zabukovje along the road there are no parking lots. If cars are parked along the road, this disturbs the locals in their daily chores.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we first ascend to the village of Zabukovje, where there are no parking lots (about 30 minutes to here). Through the village we continue along the road, which brings us to an intersection, where behind the hayrack, which we notice on the left side of the intersection, we continue straight uphill. At the spot where the asphalt ends, the signs for Jošt direct us left uphill across the meadow. After a few steps, the path brings us into the forest, where it starts ascending. The path at the beginning runs along a cart track, which a little higher turns into a footpath, which steeply ascends for a short time. The path then brings us to a junction, where we continue right. The path ahead for some time runs along a cart track, which we soon leave as the signs direct us left uphill. After a few more minutes of walking, the path brings us to the chapel. Here we continue left uphill and after a short ascent the path brings us to the next chapel at the Puščava cottage. We continue right (or left) and follow the path, which ascends along the summit slope of the mountain, to the summit, which we reach after 5 minutes of walking.
Parking lot - Zabukovje 0:30, Zabukovje - sv. Jošt 0:50.

Do they have a stamp in the hut? The kids are collecting stamps for Cici diary?

Yesterday, 23.2.2014, I forgot my Black Diamond trekking poles in Zabukovje (a few meters before the intersection on the first picture). I know the chance of getting them back is minimal, but still I ask the honest finder to contact me (possibly via ZS) and we'll certainly arrange a suitable reward.

Hm, I assume that this is the least used starting point for Jošt, since today, on a sunny Saturday, my colleague and I were the only tourists from this direction. But believe me, there were tons of hikers at the top. Maybe the locals don't like too many cars up here?

Hi, On 10/03/2018 I lost Skoda car keys on the trail. If anyone finds them, please call me at 040 844 127 (though with the snow it's unlikely:/). thanks, ziva
