Vrbnik - Church of the Assumption of Mary (Vrbnik)

Access to starting point:
From the Rupa - Rijeka / Rijeka or Zagreb - Rijeka / Rijeka motorway, we drive towards Rijeka, from there following the signs for Krk Island. When the motorway or expressway ends in the final section, we descend to the Krk Bridge (toll 35 kuna - March 2014), then continue driving towards the places Omišalj, Njivice and Malinska. The road then takes us to the Plodine shopping center, where the first road to Malinska branches off to the right, but we continue from there to the nearby roundabout, from which we continue driving towards the town of Vrbnik. The road then leads us through the settlement of Gabonjin, a few kilometers further we arrive in the village of Kras, where we continue right towards Vrbnik. A somewhat narrower road leads us past the settlement of Garica, then after a short descent we reach the vineyards (from the grapes grown on these vineyards they produce Vrbnička žlahtina). A little further on, we join the road leading from the town of Krk to Vrbnik, but here we continue left and follow the road that descends a little more to the large arranged parking lot on St. John the Baptist Square / Trg sv. Ivana Krstitela.

Route description:
First, we walk to the north side of the parking lot, from where we continue along the ascending road closed to public traffic towards the church of St. Anthony of Padua, St. Martin, Nada restaurant, Vitezić library and Ethnographic Museum... Initially still relatively wide, the road gradually narrows, then takes us along already very narrow streets, past some restaurants, churches, residential houses to the church of St. Mary of the Assumption / sv. Marija od Uznesenja. From the church, we can continue a little further to a nice viewpoint from which a beautiful view of the sea opens up.
We can descend the same way, or via one of the other narrow streets.
