Vratca - Škabrijel

Access to starting point:
From highway Ajdovščina - Nova Gorica we go to the exit Selo and we follow the road ahead in the direction of Nova Gorica. At the settlement Ajševica, we continue slightly right, and then after a few 100 meters, we turn right towards the village Kromberk. Further, we drive past the castle and we follow the ascending road to a smaller saddle after which we park on a parking lot by the road.
From Tolmin we drive to Nova Gorica, where at the roundabout, we continue in the direction of Ajdovščina and village Kromberk. In Kromberk we turn left and we follow the ascending road past the castle to a smaller saddle, after which we park on a parking lot by the road.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we return a few dozen meters back, to a saddle named Vratca. On the saddle, we notice a footpath which ascends towards Škabrijel (beginning of the path isn't marked). The path, by which we soon notice blazes, relatively steeply ascends and leads us on a slope, on which we notice a larger number of military trenches. The steepness then slowly decreases and the path brings us on the upper slope of Škabrijel. A gently sloping path, which runs mostly through a pine forest, brings us a little below the summit onto a cart track, which we follow to the summit.
