Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana–Maribor motorway, take the Žalec exit, then continue driving towards Velenje. In the main roundabout (2nd roundabout) in Velenje, below the ski jumping hill, continue straight (2nd exit) in the direction of Šoštanj–Mozirje.
Then at the traffic-light junction turn left and then immediately right onto the parking lot, where parking is free.
B) From Koroška first drive to Slovenj Gradec, then continue driving towards Velenje. In the main roundabout (1st roundabout) in Velenje, below the ski jumping hill, continue right (1st exit) in the direction of Šoštanj–Mozirje.
Then at the traffic-light junction turn left and then immediately right onto the parking lot, where parking is free.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we go back in the direction towards the roundabout below the ski jumping hill along the parallel street through Stari trg.
After 100 m we come to the intersection and turn right. After the next 100 m we see on the left side of the road a smaller parking lot of the hair salon and stairs and the beginning of the path to Velenje Castle.
A wide path leads in zig-zags to the top to the castle. On the path we have no view, because the path is surrounded by trees.
