Valburga - Smledniški hrib (Stari grad) (by road)

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, we take the Vodice exit, then continue driving towards Valburga, Smlednik, Zbilje and Medvode. When we arrive in Valburga, we will notice the sign for Stari grad, which directs us left onto a local road. We continue driving through the village, and at the smaller intersection in the upper part of the village we turn left again towards Stari grad and the marked parking lot. Initially, we still follow the asphalt road for another good 100 m, then we park on the marked parking lot by the road.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road alongside which we parked, and soon the path from the lower starting point joins (path over Kalvarija). Here the road turns slightly to the right and brings us to the playground on the saddle above Kalvarija. Here a steep footpath branches off slightly to the left, leading to Stari grad; we continue on the road, which turns increasingly to the right. Higher up, we arrive at a marked intersection, where we continue sharply left past the NOB monument and in a few minutes ascend to the snack bar on Smledniški hrib.
From the snack bar we continue on a well-maintained path, on which we ascend to the renovated Stari grad in a few steps.
