Unteralmhütte (Weneberger Alm) - Scharnik

Drive to Irschen (Austria). The fastest way to Irschen is via the motorway to Spittal and then along the regional road past the villages of Lendorf, Greifenburg and Dellach im Drautal all the way to Irschen. In Irschen, follow the signs for Weneberg and then for Wenebergeralm to the parking lot near Unteralmhütte. The last 6 kilometres of the road are in bad shape.

Route description:
From the parking lot walk to Unteralmhütte. Behind the hut the trail begins, which first crosses a spring then the signs direct you up the trail towards Scharnik.

The trail is scenic in the continuation, while it ascends and crosses a spring. Along the trail there is a luxurious wooden lounger. In short, 45 minutes from the Unteralmhütte hut the trail from Ochsnerhütte joins. Here keep left towards Lamnitzsee. Soon another brook is crossed, then the trail becomes steeper and leads towards Scharnik. After 30 minutes from the last signs turn right (left is Lamnitzsee and Dachskofel). This is followed by the ascent to the saddle Gursgen Törl, 2445 m, which is reached in the next 20 minutes. At the saddle turn right towards the Scharnik summit. The trail continues along the ridge all the way to the top. The trail is not demanding but caution is necessary due to the stone slabs.
