Tržiški graben - Planina Javornik

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the Kranj - east exit and follow the road ahead towards Jezersko. Before reaching Zgornje Jezersko, or more precisely immediately after the inn Kanonir, leave the main road and continue driving left onto a local road that begins to ascend moderately alongside the Reka stream. Soon we reach a smaller crossroads, where a road branches steeply upwards to the left towards Kozji vrh, and we continue on the wider road, which we follow to the next crossroads. Here we continue left towards Storžič (right Stegovnik) and continue ascending alongside the stream. Higher up, in the middle of a sharp right turn, a footpath branches straight ahead towards Storžič and Kališče, and we follow the road a little longer, or more precisely to the spot where we notice a mountain signpost with the inscription Javorniški preval 2h 10 min. Park here at a suitable spot by the road.
The road is CLOSED from 20.7. to 20.10. When the road is closed, park lower down, which extends the ascent by less than an hour.

Route description:
From the starting point we head onto a steep footpath in the direction of Javorniški preval. After a few minutes of ascent, the path flattens and gradually leads us onto a tractor track, along which we cross the slopes to the right. Just after the track crosses a wide torrent gully, we leave it and continue the ascent slightly to the left onto an initially parallel mountain path. The path ahead ascends steeply for some time, then turns right, where it crosses a somewhat steeper gully. On the other side of the gully the path flattens and crosses the slopes to the right in a moderate ascent. During the crossing, the path from Bašeljski preval joins from the left, and we follow the traversing path to the junction at Javorniški preval, where there is also the logbook box of the Viharnik mountaineering club.
Here we continue right (sharply left to Storžič, left to Dom pod Storžičem), where after about 10 steps we reach the next junction. The right path leads towards Močnikovo sedlo, and we continue on the left path in the direction of Planina Javornik. The path continues along a wide and gentle cart track, which crosses the slopes towards the northwest for some time. After a few minutes the forest thins out and an increasingly scenic path leads us to Planina Javornik, from which a beautiful view opens up.
