Tržič - Planica (Paragliding site Gozd)

Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, take the Naklo exit, then continue driving towards the settlements Žeje, Spodnje and Zgornje Duplje to the settlement Retnje, where we turn right towards the settlement Križe. At the crossroad a little after the parish church, we continue left in the direction of Pristava, and when Pristava ends, we arrive in Tržič. We park approximately 100 meters ahead on the parking lot on the left side of the road.
B) From the Jesenice - Ljubljana highway, take the Podbrezje exit, then continue driving towards Ljubelj and Tržič. Before the Petrol gas station in Bistrica pri Tržiču, we turn right, then at the traffic light right towards Križe. This is followed by driving on a somewhat narrower road, then, when the road widens at the crossroad, we continue left in the direction of Pristava. In Pristava, from the somewhat larger crossroad at the stop sign, we continue left in the direction of Pristava, and when Pristava ends, we arrive in Tržič. We park approximately 100 meters ahead on the parking lot on the left side of the road.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue some 10 steps along the road, then continue right onto the side road in the direction of Gozd and Kriška gora. A little further ahead, before the last house, we leave the road and continue the ascent left onto the marked footpath, which begins to ascend through the forest. Further on, several junctions follow, where we follow the marked path; higher up, we reach a macadam road, which we follow to the right. We quickly leave the road as the signs for Gozd and Kriška gora direct us left again onto the mountain path. A few minutes of ascent follow, then the path levels out temporarily and takes us to a cart track, along which we continue the ascent. Walking along the cart track follows, where at junctions we follow the blazes; higher up, a path branches left from the cart track to the NOB monument Čevdrci, while we continue straight on the marked path. A few minutes of flat path follow, then to the left we cross the asphalt road leading to the village Gozd. Further, we walk on a poorer macadam road, which after the trough with water turns into an ascending cart track. The cart track higher up temporarily touches the asphalt road, and we continue to the right of the road again. A few more minutes of gentle ascent through the forest follow, and the path takes us to the Zavetišče v Gozdu hut.
From the Zavetišče v Gozdu hut, we continue along the asphalt road in the direction of Kriška gora, Tolsti vrh, Golnik and Zalog, from which after some 10 steps we go right onto the side road towards the vantage point and take-off site. Initially, we ascend the asphalt road, from which a fine view opens towards Kriška gora; the road soon becomes macadam and enters the forest. Only a gentle ascent follows, and the path takes us to Planica or the Gozd take-off site.
