Access to starting point:
We drive to Mojstrana, then we follow the signs for the Kot and Krma valleys. At Kosmačev Preval we leave the road which leads further towards Krma, Radovna and Bled and we continue right on a side road in the direction of the Kot valley. This is followed by driving on a macadam road, which we follow to the mountain signposts at the end of the drivable road in Lengarjev Rovt.
Route description:
From the end of the road, we continue on a wider marked path in the direction of Staničev dom and Kredarica, which ascends lightly through the forest. After a few minutes, we arrive at the gravel terrain of Kotarica, which we cross diagonally to the other side, where the footpath reappears.
On the marked path towards Staničev dom we walk only a short time, because soon on the right we notice an unmarked footpath, on which we continue, and it brings us back after a few minutes to the torrent deposits of Kotarica (up to here also possible along the torrent). We continue gently upwards on the gravel terrain; when the valley begins to narrow, we go to the left side (right bank of the stream), where in the forest somewhat above the stream we notice a poor unmarked footpath. Here we begin to ascend more steeply, and soon we arrive at the place where the view opens to the lower waterfall of Kotarica.
The path ahead leads through the forest quite steeply upwards and soon the view also opens to the upper waterfall; at high water level, during snowmelt and after stronger storms, we can see a few more waterfalls, some of which can also be very large.
When a little further the slope above the Kotarica gorge becomes very steep, the poor path turns left and ascends transversely to the marked path that we left at the beginning of the path.
When we reach the mentioned path, we follow it left downwards (right upwards Staničev dom), along which we descend to the starting point where we began the trip.

Beautiful excursion, so many times I’ve been in Kot already, but never “had time” to see the gorge and waterfalls too. I warmly recommend to everyone to make this detour, either when heading to Staničevi or on the way back, as it will only minimally extend the path, but one will enjoy the beauty and listen to the beautiful melody of the leaping stream. Really great!

Repeat trip, but this time much more water so the waterfalls are really beautiful, and due to the snow, hard to find better refreshment in the lowlands for these hot days. Just watch your step. And no crowds, roe deer and foxes don't count.
