Šumahovo sedlo - Pikov vrh (via Veliki vrh)

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Mežica, then continue driving towards Črna na Koroškem. When Mežica ends, we quickly arrive at a crossroads, where we continue right towards the settlement Breg and CŠOD Mežica. From the crossroads onwards we begin to ascend; at the hamlet Zgornji Breg we go left towards Marholče. There follows some more ascent, then we arrive at Šumahovo sedlo, where the Šumahov križ cross is located. We park at an appropriate place near the cross.
B) From Črna na Koroškem, from the settlement Mušenik we turn left onto the road in the direction of Pikovo. At the smaller crossroads we continue straight (right Igerčevo), on the road which continues through the valley; at the next crossroads we continue left in the direction of the forest road to Koča na Pikovem (right footpath towards Koča na Pikovem). Further on, the road temporarily ascends for some time, then mainly traverses the slopes towards the right, meanwhile leading us past a few turn-offs to nearby homesteads. From the crossroads, where the road to Koča na Pikovem branches off slightly to the left, we continue slightly right, then past a few more turn-offs to homesteads and with further traversing we arrive at Šumahovo sedlo, where we park at an appropriate place by the sign.

Route description:
From Šumahovo sedlo we head onto a wide cart track which from the saddle branches off towards the west. A little further a quite steep cart track splits, and we continue left on the wider cart track which then through another hairpin turn brings us to Veliki vrh, where there are transmitters, and on the nearby building also a stamping box with a logbook.
Before the transmitters on the right we notice a footpath which transversely descends to a smaller saddle west of Veliki vrh, from the nearby junction we continue right in the direction of Pikov vrh (slightly left Pikove jame). The path continues with a few ascents and descents, mostly running along the forested ridge. The path, which is not marked, only at a few junctions it is marked, we then follow to the lookout tower on Pikov vrh.
Šumahovo sedlo - Veliki vrh 15 minutes, Veliki vrh - Pikov vrh 40 minutes.
