Route description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the main road, then we continue a few dozen steps towards the traffic light. Still before the traffic light we carefully cross the main road and head to the steep road, beside which there are signs for Spodnje Prapretno, sv. Primož and Velika planina. Initially we ascend along the asphalt road which makes two hairpin turns, soon the road becomes macadam and brings us to a forested ridge, where the road continues for a while. Further on, we gradually arrive at the southwest slopes, where we step out of the forest, after the left turn we arrive at an unmarked junction, beside which there is a map.
We continue straight ahead (right Spodnje Prapretno) along the road which returns to the forest. Higher up the road leads us through a smaller hamlet, above the hamlet it makes a left turn. Here we temporarily leave it and continue straight on the cart track, which after a few minutes of diagonal ascent returns to the road. At the next left turn we go straight again on the cart track, beside which there are signs for sv. Primož and Domžalski dom na Mali planini.
The path ahead leads us along a wide cart track which past the chapel brings us to the spring named Umivalnik (on the sign a caption in Gorenjska dialect Umivavnk).
Then follows some more diagonal ascent and we arrive at a junction, where a path branches off to the left towards Velika planina, we continue straight in the direction of sv. Primož, where we continue walking on the cart track. A few minutes higher we leave the dense forest and with nice views we arrive at the church of sv. Primož and the nearby refreshment hut.
Description and pictures refer to the condition in August 2021.

Discussion about the trip Stahovica - Sveti Primož above Kamnik (by road)

Along the way you can enjoy fresh dust from the road.

Whoever doesn't like it can walk on the asphalt in Ljubljana. We'll be really happy when you don't make such crowds and noise.

Locals could also do something so this road doesn't raise so much dust, the problem is not hikers, but some car drivers, cyclists and motorbikers, so no point arguing here, most hikers are from Kamnik anyway, and drivers, cyclists and motorbikers too. Everyone sweep in front of their own door, and it'll be fine for all.

Nice greetings On Friday there was an endurance race here, 24 hours of running to Sv. Primož. I participated for the first time with colleague Sonja. With mutual encouragement we achieved at least for us an excellent result: 16 ascents best regards from ,,cajtanja,,

Nice, shorter excursion, suitable also for families with small children. Autumn sun beckons!

I also visited Sv. Primož and can tell you the path itself is beautiful and suitable for all generations, but as for the inn and service, I am a regular mountain goer and this service here was the worst so far. They certainly won't see me here again.

I don't know what à la carte service they expect after half an hour of walking...

On St. Primož it's not a restaurant, at most a refreshment spot, and the selection is accordingly appropriate. And the fact that this refreshment spot has kept all the "patina" of the past and most features of a (mountain) farmhouse (black kitchen and the so-called "house") seems praiseworthy to me. I also pass by often, especially in winter to Velika, and I've truly never had a bad experience. If someone wants fine cuisine, there's a good choice in the valley (as Pelican wrote, less than half an hour's walk back).

And again, ganging up on someone who dared to criticize a mountain outpost. This way it'll never get better. Of course you have the right to give a counter-opinion, but mocking a person seems pathetic to me. Better tell how it seemed to you (like Raina), if you were there at all, otherwise keep your rude comments to yourself.

I like it because nothing has changed in decades. Stainless steel and HACCP should stay in the valley.

At Primož they served me the best homemade cooked Turkish coffee.

I see some complain because they have to trudge along the road. There is also a forest path whose start is on the other side of the intersection in Stahovica (if going towards Gornji grad). After a few tens of meters from the intersection it branches off past a house. When we reach the gravel road it's just across and back into the forest. This path then rejoins the gravel and (oh my god) here we have to go 10-15 min along the road to the houses. After the houses, in the first left bend (at the sign "Do not park in the bend") a cart track branches off through the forest again, then continue as per the upper description. Otherwise, we met a small cute piglet on the path. We thought it was wild (black with stripes on the face) and were a bit afraid that mom wouldn't come galloping from somewhere. Well, the hutkeeper at the top said they have a farm at Kisovec and it probably escaped from there. Regarding the above complaint, let me say that the hutkeeper was not unfriendly, he brewed good coffee, and at my request also opened the church, whose visit (especially beautiful frescoes) I recommend.

Since I didn't know where to go in Kamnik for 2 hours, I decided to go to Primož . As @kokta wrote, nice tour, just right for maintaining fitness. For Kamnik folks, this is really the closest hill, since there are still quite a few visitors even in the evening hours . The path is super well-trodden, so cheerfully up. Otherwise, it was blowing hard, so I practically just turned around at the top . A few times it lifted so strongly, blew away the snow, that I couldn't see practically anything in front of me . I think it was -10°C in front of the refreshment hut.

The path should be sufficiently cleared to be normally passable.

Yesterday I was up there, and it was really nice, great view and pleasant chatting with other visitors. Hot tea and green špon and back to the valley.

The road is open to traffic. Closed roads in Slovenia have a no-traffic sign and a supplementary sign for exceptions. Those municipal signs are black illegal barriers.
