Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the Lesce exit and follow the road in the direction of Bled; there, at the traffic-light crossroads, signs for Pokljuka direct us to the right. This road, which in the lower part runs through some villages and later starts to ascend more steeply, we follow to the Šport Hotel on Pokljuka. We park at an appropriate place by the road or near the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel is only for guests.
Route description:
From the Šport Hotel, we return along the road to the junction with the main road, then continue the ascent in the direction of Rudno polje. After approximately 100 m of walking along the main road, a forest road branches off to the right, which quickly leads us into the spruce forest. The mentioned road, which is gently ascending and along which we notice some blazes, we follow all the way to its end at a larger turning point. At the end of the road, we notice a wide marked cart track, along which we continue the path in a moderate ascent. The cart track after a shorter ascent flattens, then gradually starts descending. After a few minutes of descent, we step out of the forest onto the expansive mountain pasture Planina Zajavornik.
When we step onto the mountain pasture, the path still gently descends for some time, then brings us to the heart of the mountain pasture, where we notice numerous shepherd (weekend) huts. The path ahead crosses a short strip of forest, after which we step onto a macadam road (option for the starting point).
We only cross the mentioned road, as signs to Blejska koča direct us onto a wide and initially still gentle path. The path ahead continues through initially sparse forest, then through increasingly dense forest. Higher up, we cross a forest road, and the path gradually becomes steeper. Soon we join the path from the monument (Pri Rupah), then a little further we join a wide cart track (starting point Medvedova konta). We continue the ascent along the cart track, which quickly brings us to the lower part of the mountain pasture Lipanca. Here we notice a sign that we are entering the grazing area; it warns us not to walk on shortcuts. We continue along the wide path, which past the memorial plaque in a few minutes brings us to the mountain hut Blejska koča na Lipanci.

nice walk, before the May 1st holidays my 5-year-old son managed it too, just one remark: Italian retirees=HORROR

Ugh, at Blejska koča last fall a coffee cost 400 SIT.

I only opened this page again now. Italian retirees got on my nerves because my wife and I were taking our son to the mountains for the first time and we hid "treasures" of the mountain gnome (sweets) for him at various places along the path. No harm done that they were the first to "discover" the first hiding place right under his nose. Can you imagine his disappointment? Since I don't speak Italian, and they didn't understand my English and French, my wife and I had to wave our hands quite a bit for them to understand our honest intention. Then we rather had a short snack and gave them about 20 min head start.

Thanks! To the hut keeper Jože at Blejska koča , for everything he offered and helped me when in trouble. Visit him, he won't disappoint you. lp Andrej

Yes, I've been hiking in the mountains for quite some years (45) but I can say that there are few hut keepers like Jože, perhaps the legendary FRANCL below Špik, or Simon Eržen from Kriške pode.

I THINK THAT THE SAME PRAISE IS DESERVED ALSO BY THE WOMAN MILENA, WHO IS PERHAPS LESS VISIBLE. AT BLEJSKA KOČA I FEEL LIKE AT HOME. LP

Has anyone been to Blejska koča recently? What's the path like?

On Thursday the path from Na Rupah monument to the hut was like elsewhere quite icy - you need microspikes or caution.

I was on Sunday at Debela peč and as the previous one wrote, the path is quite icy... during the day or at night it freezes, in places you could skate with real skates

Was on Lipanci on Wednesday. Path super. Weather super. Food super. Mushrooms are growing too. After the first rain there will be even more.
