Access to starting point:
We drive on the highway from Razdrto towards Nova Gorica or vice versa and go to the exit Ajdovščina. Then at the crossroad (first traffic light) we continue straight in the direction of Col and Idrija. At the second traffic light we turn right, again in the direction of Col and we follow the road only a few dozen meters to the spot where we cross the river Hubelj. Immediately after the bridge we turn left in the direction of the source of Hubelj (by the road we notice tourist signs). We follow this road to the parking lot at the source of Hubelj.
Route description:
Near the parking lot, we notice the beginning of the path towards the Otliško okno. The path first ascends the stairs and then goes into the forest, where it moderately ascends for some time. The path then slightly descends and brings us to a panoramic slope from where a nice view opens up towards the slopes of Čaven. The path then goes into the forest and quickly brings us to a birdhouse by which we notice a thermometer. Only a few meters ahead along the path there is a pleasant bench. Further, the path starts ascending and leads us past the spot where the story about the origin of the Otliško okno is written. The path then becomes steeper and steeper and soon brings us to rocky slopes. The path with every step becomes more and more panoramic and diverse. A little higher, the path brings us below the Otliško okno, which we already see on the right side. Only a little ahead we notice a sign for Malo Otliško okno. Malo okno is only 10 m distant from the path and is worth seeing. The path ahead passes into an indistinct gully in the middle of which at Christmas time we notice cribs. On top of the gully we come to the chapel where there is a logbook box and a stamp. Here we continue right in the direction of the window, to which we have five minutes of walking. Only a little before the window a path branches off to the left towards the stone snail, which is only a good minute distant from the path. From the snail we return to the path which we left and in a few dozen steps we come to the information boards at the Otliško okno. From the boards we can descend to the window from which a nice view opens up on the Vipava Valley.

Discussion about the trip Izvir Hublja - Otliško okno
|

Last year I was here and was pleasantly surprised. First, the Izvir Hublja enchanted me, but unfortunately I couldn't reach it because they built a power plant. The view through the window to Vipavska dolina is also something special. I recommend this trip for building fitness. Staša

Yes and if you catch just the right time, there is a lot of flowers here in spring - especially primroses. Beautiful, beautiful tour. Good luck!

Today 7.II.2008 I went from Izvir Hublja to Otliško okno and then further to the polž and even further to Navrše. Really nice and especially panoramic excursion or tour as one likes. Let me say that I also saw Tržaški zaliv. Along the path a not too strong bora accompanied me. On the whole path to the window I met only three friendly Primorci and a short chat with them was not superfluous. At the top there is some snow in certain hollows, snowdrifts. At the window I spotted also snowdrops, somewhat lower down liverleaf. Spring, as it seems, is coming. RECOMMEND.

Our family also set off today on the described excursion. For interest, we had a nice view of Tržaški zaliv (evening Ave) and experienced a snow shower when we were at the top. The path is very nice and not difficult. LP Andrej

So much water, I can't believe it, because when I was at the spring in spring on the way to Otliško okno, it was much more modest

Yesterday my husband and I were on this trail and it was wonderful! We'll repeat it with the kids, probably end of August.

I'm wondering if the path is mostly shady, thus pleasant even in summer? Thanks.

Was there last year. I wouldn't say it's particularly shady, and it's the hot Ajdovščina area. I don't recommend going up in the afternoon, in the morning it's ideal!

The last third is open to the sun and can be quite hot in summer.. Otherwise it mostly goes through the forest..

The path is much nicer than it appears from the photos. The last third is also nicely scenic.

No, those photos were quite enough for me to set off on this trail. Which is really beautiful.
