Snežniška Grda jama - Mali Snežnik

Access to starting point:
From Cerknica we drive towards Lož and further to the village Pudob, where we turn right in the direction of Snežnik and the village Kozarišče. At Snežnik Castle the asphalt ends, and we continue further on the macadam road and at the crossroads stick to the direction of Mašun. After a long drive on macadam we come to a crossroad of equivalent roads, where we first notice the sign "Sviščaki". Here we turn sharply left and follow the road, which is still macadam, to the mountain hut on Sviščakih. Here the forest road towards Snežnik branches off to the left. We head onto this road and follow it first through the hamlet on Sviščakih to a crossroad, where we head onto the left road. Soon after that another road branches off sharply to the right; we continue straight to the next crossroad, where we park on the marked parking lot.
We drive to Ilirska Bistrica, where we turn left towards Sviščaki (if we come from the Croatian direction, then right). We follow the road ahead to Sviščaki. At the mountain hut on Sviščakih the road towards Snežnik branches off to the right. We head onto this road and follow it first through the hamlet on Sviščakih to a crossroad, where we head onto the left road. Soon after that another road branches off sharply to the right; we continue straight to the next crossroad, where we park on the marked parking lot.

Route description:
From the parking lot we head onto the left lower road, which brings us to a sharp left turn, where on the left we notice Snežniška Grda jama. Soon after that a footpath heads upward to the right towards Mali Snežnik.
We head onto this path, which first climbs steeply, then in a traverse brings us to the spot where the path from Mašun joins. We continue right again quite steeply upwards through the forest, which soon changes into dwarf pines. The path, which becomes increasingly scenic, brings us after one hour of walking to the indistinct summit of Mali Snežnik.
