Ski hotel Vogel - Orlove glave

Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and then towards Bohinjska Bistrica. We continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we come to a junction, where we continue straight along the left (southern) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanc and Savica Waterfall. We follow this road to the lower station of the Vogel cable car, then we buy a ticket and take the cable car to the upper station, which is the starting point for our tour.

Route description:
From the upper station of the cable car on Vogel we continue right on the road, which on the west side bypasses the mountain hut Merjasec. We continue the path in a gentle descent in the direction of Komna and Vogel, and a wide macadam road brings us to a marked junction. Here we continue left in the direction of the four-seater chairlift Orlove glave (right downwards Komna, Vogel, Žagarjev graben and Ukanc), which the road bypasses on the right side. From the bottom station of the four-seater chairlift, the path, which ahead runs on a transport-rescue road on the Vogel ski slope, starts to ascend more steeply. We follow the road, alongside which we also notice some rare blazes and with increasingly beautiful views of the Julian Alps, to the upper station of the aforementioned four-seater chairlift. Here the path flattens and brings us to the spot where signs for the viewpoint direct us right into a belt of dwarf pines. We continue in the mentioned direction and after two minutes of moderate ascent we arrive at the forepeak of Orlove glave, in the middle of which stands a larger wooden cross.
If we want, we can in less than 10 minutes also ascend to the nearby "main" peak of Orlove glave. We reach it by returning to the ski slope, from where we continue straight towards Visoki Orlov rob, Šija and Rodica. Just a few meters before the road starts to descend, we continue sharply right onto a steep rocky cart track, on which we quickly ascend to the summit.
