Ridovc / Ridovcsäge - Mejnik (via valley of Mrzli potok)

Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Ljubelj (Tržič), and then we continue driving in the direction of Celovec / Klagenfurt. After the Ljubelj tunnel the road starts descending, and we follow it to the crossroads, where the road towards the settlement Borovlje / Ferlach branches off slightly to the right and downwards. The road, which is still descending, quickly brings us to the mentioned settlement, where we soon cross the railway track. Just a little after the track we join another road, which we follow to the right, driving along it in the direction of the settlement Sele / Zell - Pfarre. Higher, the road leads us through a shorter scenic gorge, and then we soon get to the sharp left turn at the homestead Ridovc, where we notice yellow hiking signposts and a bus stop. We park somewhere nearby at an appropriate place by the road.

Route description:
From the bus stop Ridovc we continue on the asphalt road (right on a macadam road 15 minutes longer path through the valley of Huda jama), which we leave after a few meters and continue right towards the nearby residential house, which we bypass on the left side. Behind the house, the road changes into a cart track, on which we then ascend for some time beside the Mrzli potok stream. Higher, we join the forest educational trail and follow it to the right, where we first cross the stream, then after a short ascent leave it, as the blazes lead left onto a relatively steep footpath. For some time we ascend relatively steeply, then the path and the slope flatten out. There follows a short walk on a cart track, then we cross the road that leads from the settlement Sele towards the mountain hut Koča pod Košuto.
There follows a few minutes of steep ascent, then we return to the road, along which we emerge from the forest into Mrzli log.
From here we can continue right on the marked path, which continues along the bottom of the small valley, or along the parallel macadam road. Wherever we continue, after approximately 15 minutes of further walking we will arrive at the Koča pod Košuto mountain hut.
From the mountain hut we continue left into the forest, where the path quickly brings us to a marked junction. From the junction we continue left (right Ridovc / Ridovcsäge, Malejska planina / Malealm, saddle Pešinca / Pischenzasattel...) in the direction of Cjajnik / Lärchenturm and Košutnikov turn / Koschutnikturm along the path that ascends diagonally to the left. After a few minutes we arrive at the next junction, where we continue straight in the direction of Košutnikov turn (right Cjajnik).
Further on, the path begins to ascend somewhat more steeply and, with occasional views of the walls of Košuta, brings us to the saddle Mejnik / Mejniksattel, where we leave the marked path.
From the saddle we continue left along an initially easy-to-follow forest footpath, along which we very quickly reach the pastures where sheep graze in the summer season. From the pasture a nice view opens onto Obir and the ridge and walls of Košuta behind us. On the other side of the pasture the path returns to the forest and past a small cross brings us to the forest-covered summit, which we recognize by the concrete boundary marker.
