Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana–Jesenice highway, take the Kranj–East exit and follow the road ahead in the direction of Jezersko. In Zgornje Jezersko, just a little after the gas station, we will notice a road which branches off to the right from the main road (direction Planšarsko jezero). The road then leads us past the mentioned lake and behind it steeply ascends for a short time. Higher up, the road flattens and at the beginning of a large meadow loses its asphalt surface. We then follow the macadam road to a marked larger parking lot.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the macadam road following the signs »Češka koča, Ledine« and after approximately 15 minutes of walking, we come to the cargo cableway.
From the cargo cableway (the lower station of the cargo cableway burned down in June 2015) we continue following the signs Kranjska koča na Ledinah - Slovenska pot. At first for a short time, we walk through the forest, then the path brings us onto grassy terrain which is partly covered with dwarf pines. Here the path turns slightly to the left and then ascends transversely along sparse dwarf pines, later on scree. Such a path brings us to the first junction, where the path to Češka koča (Umik žrela) branches off to the right. The junction is marked with the inscription »Češka koča« on a rock. Already after a few dozen meters of ascent we are again at a junction. This time the path through žrelo branches off to the right upwards on the scree. We continue left and enter the wall.
The path, which immediately becomes a climbing path, is well secured, but caution is still needed because the rock is often damp. The path over the shorter wall is also quite exposed in places, but full of nice views. When we climb this part the path returns into the dwarf pines through which we then ascend on a well-made path. We continue quite steeply upwards and soon the path through Žrelo joins from the right. From here follows a shorter undemanding ascent to Kranjska koča na Ledinah.
route map - Kranjska koča na Ledinah
The trip can be extended to the following destinations: Bivak pod Mrzlim vrhom, Ledinski vrh, Vellacher Turm/Storžek, Velika (Koroška) Baba, Mrzla gora, Štajerska Rinka, Koroška Rinka, Kranjska Rinka
We recommend: trips from the same starting point, similar trips, panorama, summit register

On the Slovenska there is little snow before entering the climbing section, but it's covered with scree and causes no problems. Through Žrelo there is at least one larger snowfield, visible from the viewpoint at the top of Žrelo.

Slovenska pot is otherwise a real easy hike. Just enough varied, climbing section excellently secured and not too exposed, in short just right for less experiencednasmeh. Especially the path is practically all in shade between 8am and 10am and excellent choice for these hot days. Enjoyed maximally todayjezik.

I went to the terrain to check the correctness of my assumptions nasmeh. I found out that I was right and @_sandra_ is right too. Jezerske Kočne is not visible in picture 17, as previously written under the picture. I also have pictorial evidence mežikanje. Regards

Yesterday we went from meadow to Češko then through Zrelo to Kranjska at Ledinah and back to valley via Slovenska...
WHAT COULD BE BETTER nasmeh Highly recommend!!

Does anyone have any idea which path in our country would be similar to the Slovenian one?
dazb7330. 06. 2015
Hello! Is there still any snow on the Slovenska pot? Last week the view from Jezersko was still very "white"nasmeh Thanks in advance for the info.
garmont30. 06. 2015
Not anymore for a long time.
Lisica25. 08. 2015
On this path over the rock there was a bit of adrenaline yesterday. eek It really is very exposed at a few spots. nasmeh SVK wouldn't be superfluous, sometimes already for a better feeling when you're alone on the wall.

Enka25. 08. 2015
I really like the Slovenska path to Ledine. But it's true that I take SVK and clip in at a few spots, as Lisica says, for a better feelingvelik nasmeh.

...I'm wondering if there's a stamp somewhere outside the hut...nasmeh
alexandra9. 06. 2017
Is there perhaps still a larger snowfield on the path?
trdi13. 08. 2018
Given that the hribi.net portal is intended for a wider population of hikers, in my opinion this trail should be categorized as very demanding, as the section in the wall has all the characteristics of a climbing path. I believe it is generally more difficult than the climbing path to Peca, which is categorized as a very demanding trail.
Batistuta23. 08. 2018
Today I went along this path to the hut on Ledine. I was quite surprised at how demanding a section it has! The pegs are spaced so far apart in several places that they are suitable for a 250 cm person. With my 180 cm, I stared blankly several times at how to climb up. It was actually a combination of pegs and wire rope and a bit of free climbing. I didn't feel very comfortable. I'm an experienced mountaineer otherwise.
I fully agree with the previous post that the path should be categorized as very difficult. An average hiker (especially with family) has no business on this path.
mosovnik23. 08. 2018
@Batistuta: 2-3 meters of slight climbing shouldn't be a problem for an average hiker.
I do agree that this path is demanding, it's excellently routed and again, doesn't pose any special problems for an average hiker.
Personally checked several times. Happy trails.
tango28. 08. 2018
first a hop to Češka koča, then along Slovenska to Ledine. Great!. The aids on the path excellent, of course as befits such a path: with brains. Recommended.
bostjan8517. 10. 2018
hello

Does anyone know if the stamp is in the hut or outside the hut?
dvojnit24. 07. 2022 08:23:19
Yesterday I went up this path for the second time. Once it was my first very difficult one and today, after many more km hiked, it seems to me to be an excellent example for someone who wants to venture on a very difficult path for the first time. Why? From the parking lot it's first 40 minutes of easy path. Then the very demanding, wire-secured section begins. If you change your mind upon seeing it, you just turn around and return to the parking lot. Otherwise, this section takes you only 10 minutes. It is very well secured and you don't normally need SVK, but you can, according to desire, feelings and experience.
From the end of the very demanding section to the hut it's then another half hour of walking, depending on pace.

If the discomfort at the thought of returning by this path is ultimately too great, you can return from Ledine via the Lovska path, which is much easier, partially demanding marked path.

Hello everyonenasmeh
I'm heading to Kranjska koča na Ledinah via the Slovenska pot. Please give your opinion those who have been on this path and have also gone to Konj from Presedljaj.
Which path is harder and more exposed?
Kafetarca13. 07. 2023 12:25:21
I'm also interested in this comparison, because I'm going to Konj this weekend via the 'climbing' one, and from the pictures it looks quite awkward to me.

I've already gone to Ledine via the Slovenska and there are no huge drop-offs, nor is it so critical that one would need SVK.
garmont13. 07. 2023 13:03:23
The path to Konj is more of a ridge type, while the Slovenska goes more through a gully and shorter ledges, so I think the path to Konj is more exposed. But neither is particularly demanding and above all both are short.
Rokovnjacica13. 07. 2023 22:35:44
Thanks Kafetarca and thanks garmontnasmehYou both wrote exactly what I needed! On Saturday I'll wave to you from in front of the hut on Ledinah🙋‍♀️ Kafetarca, wave to you from Konj🐴 and enjoy

Good luck! nasmeh
emilk17. 08. 2023 18:01:24
Today my girlfriend and I went along Slovenska to Kranjska koča na Ledinah, back along lovska. Both paths are super maintained (there are even some new fixed cables on lovska) and extremely well secured. However, at the foot of lovska, the last thunderstorm washed away part of the path, so you have to scramble a bit around the markings and walk a few meters over scree.

This was my first via ferrata and I can confirm that, as mentioned many times, it is suitable for beginners.

The hut is closed most of the time this year (2023) due to renovation, and if open, they only serve drinks.
anica.zu18. 08. 2023 08:36:59
This is not a via ferrata, dear Emilk. If you want a via ferrata, you have to go directly to Češka koča.
anka199916. 09. 2023 08:50:33
I'm interested in how the snow is at the entrance to the climbing section, has anyone been there in the last few days?

Dry 😊
Kamen4019. 09. 2023 13:11:09
Hello,

I'm interested if I could take the kids on the mentioned path (ages 9 and 12)? Would they need SVK? We were at Pristovski Storžič. Can this path be compared to the mentioned one? Thanks in advance for your help.
piranha19. 09. 2023 15:42:15

How much do you hike in the hills? Take kids when they themselves express the wish. There are plenty of examples of a child screaming from fear, but the parent doesn't yield. Recently on Prisank they even take pre-schoolers along the ridge,... we can imagine what that means, as if there were no better hills.
_sandra_19. 09. 2023 19:52:08
@Kamen40: maybe better take them on Lovska pot first. Slovenska pot harder than Pristovski Storžič, slightly exposed in places. Or go alone first, then assess suitability for your kids. Good luck
zane5. 10. 2023 10:58:19
We went this year with our 9-year-old. She had SVK, but to make it easier, I belayed her. There were no problems though, because she wanted to go alone and even motivated my wife with that smile The climbing section is relatively short, we took less than half an hour at our pace, but the path is exposed and steep in places. For descent, absolutely the hunter's path.
Enka5. 10. 2023 13:11:41
No comparison with Pristovski Storžič. The climbing part is relatively short, but it's a real climb, airy in one section. I wouldn't take a 9-year-old without SVK.
jax6. 10. 2023 15:28:14
Slovenska is not any harder than Lovska.
Zvončica55. 11. 2023 17:42:41
jax, seriously?? I've walked both and there's no comparison between them - the Hunting trail is nowhere exposed, has no climbing part. So... don't mislead.
jax5. 11. 2023 18:52:55
Here:
https://www.hribi.net/slika_pot/_ravenska_kocna_kranjska_koca_na_ledinah_lovska_pot/314835

and here:
https://www.hribi.net/slika_pot/_ravenska_kocna_kranjska_koca_na_ledinah_lovska_pot/314838

Maybe I'm weird, but to me that climbing on steep and slippery rocks and roots, which there is quite a lot on the Hunting trail, seems much more delicate than a couple of short climbs on good rock that you have on the Slovenska. And you're down faster, which is also a safety factor.
ločanka6. 11. 2023 19:46:24
jax, I agree with your opinion! The Hunting trail is much more exposed, especially on the descent.
Enka7. 11. 2023 09:16:06
Crazy, how different we are. I always go up the Slovenska and down the hunting trail, because that seems ideal to me. The hunting trail does have quite some gymnastics and some rocks can be annoyingly slippery, true. But still it seems one level easier to me than the Slovenska (btw., on this side the difficulty difference is rated even two levels: Slovenska very demanding and hunting trail partially demanding).
ppegan7. 11. 2023 09:38:17
Given that I hike to Ledine with my dog via Lovska, but haven't gone via Slovenska with him yet, I think there's no dilemma about the difficulty. If a dog can manage it without trouble or help, then it can't be that hard wink Personally, it never seemed exposed to me, and I've always descended via it. I think the difficulty of both paths up here is quite correctly rated.
balon7. 11. 2023 11:25:14
ppegan, what breed or how big is your dog? Do you think a 50 kg Šarplaninec could manage this path?
ppegan7. 11. 2023 11:44:57
Balon, unfortunately I don't know that, because I don't know your dog's abilities. I went with both, a 33 kg mixed Dalmatian and a 25 kg mix with Labrador, despite the steep path, a couple of chains and slippery spots on the path I didn't need to help either, they managed on their own. True, they are used to moving on such paths. Maybe this still isn't the best path choice for your Šarplaninec. Since he's heavy, you have to watch his hips. The path is quite steep. Decide for yourselves.
Zvončica58. 11. 2023 16:36:43
ločanka, which part of Lovska seems exposed to you? A few years ago I went with a group to Kranjska koča and those who were afraid of heights went via Lovska. None of them had any problems on the path. I myself went on this path only once, but I really don't remember it being exposed anywhere.confused

In my opinion, the Slovenska pot to Ledine is easier than other very difficult paths because the entire climbing section is equipped with safety gear and is therefore suitable for beginners from that perspective. But it is quite exposed at the beginning and not really suitable for everyone.
ločanka9. 11. 2023 06:42:07
Zvončica5, I didn't mean this path in parts. But in general. I haven't hiked there often, but I know that when I went there for the first time on the way back from Ledine, it seemed that way to me. Everything was slippery, safety gear practically nothing (at least back then), and any possible slips off the path wouldn't end well. That's how I remember it, but today I might think differentlysmile.
jprim9. 11. 2023 20:45:55
The path classifications are already correct.
However, opinions differ. Personally, I preferred the Slovenska pot to then descending via Lovska, as it is really sometimes very slippery over rocks, but I wouldn't say it's exposed.
LP!
Evjuna10. 11. 2023 09:04:06
On PZS, Lovska is classified as difficult, Slovenska as very difficult. That will be correct.
plaNinaPirsMajcen9. 07. 2024 17:08:22
A few days ago I climbed the Slovenska pot with my mom up and also down. The protections are impeccable. I personally liked it a lot. I'll return soon with my 12-year-old son who is getting used to climbing paths.
We had SVK, it's wise to use it in a few places. Especially when climbing this path down.
In the initial part the path is a bit more exposed, not for someone who doesn't like heights. For a hiker with at least some climbing experience it shouldn't be a problem. In the upper part the path retreats into a gully where there's less sense of depth underfoot. It didn't seem technically very difficult to us, no overhangs, but good training for arms and legs.
In short, it was too short for us smile
Good luck everyone!

I too walked yesterday and "climbed" the Slovenska pot to Ledine and join the comments of Enka and Planina85.
jprim, I would like to say that on this forum we are mountain lovers with various experiences and any arrogance, offensiveness and mockery of other participants' comments is completely unnecessary and out of place and disturbing to me.
The description of this path states: "path that immediately becomes climbing is well secured..."
So what's wrong with the word "preplezala"???
