Račevsko jezero - Koča na Vrhu Svetih Treh Kraljev

Access to starting point:
a) From the highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Vrhnika, and then we continue driving on the parallel old road towards Logatec. Soon we will notice signs for Stara Vrhnika, which point us to the right. We follow the road to Stara Vrhnika and further towards Podlipa and Velika Ligojna. After Stara Vrhnika we leave the main road and continue left in the direction of Podlipa and Smrečje. After Podlipa the road starts ascending steeper, and higher from the right the road from Horjul also joins. Here we continue slightly left, and we follow the occasionally somewhat narrower road to Smrečje. The road then starts descending, and we follow it to a crossroad, where a road towards Lavrovec branches off to the right. We park on an appropriate place by the road
b) From Horjul past Vrzdenec we drive towards Gorenja vas. In the first sharp right turn, the road branches off to the left towards the village Šentjošt nad Horjulom. We go on this road and follow it to the next crossroad, where we turn right (left downwards Vrhnika). The road then soon brings us to the village Smrečje. The road then starts descending, and we follow it to a crossroad, where a road towards Lavrovec branches off to the right. We park on an appropriate place by the road
c) From Škofja Loka on a regional road we drive to Žiri, and from there we go on the road which goes along the river Račeva upwards in the direction of the villages Smrečje and Žirovski Vrh. We follow the road ahead in the direction of Smrečje and Vrh Svetih Treh Kraljev. A little before we get to Račevsko jezero, we will get to a crossroad, where a road branches off to the left towards the village Lavrovec. We park on an appropriate place by the crossroad.

Route description:
From the crossroad, we continue on the marked path which continues towards the south (opposite side of the road which leads to Lavrovec). The marked path immediately over a small bridge crosses a smaller stream and behind it turns right into the forest, through which it starts ascending steeper. Higher, the path makes a sharp left turn and then joins a somewhat wider cart track. We continue the ascent for some time on the mentioned cart track, then we step onto an asphalt road, which we follow to the right. Just a little higher the road splits into two parts, and we continue on the left (right Vrh Svetih Treh Kraljev past Petač), which quickly brings us to a smaller hamlet in the village. We walk past the houses, and the road quickly brings us to a boules court, where from the left a marked path from Rovte also joins. We continue right and past the Rupnik Line in a minute of additional walking we get to the mountain hut on Vrh Svetih Treh Kraljev.
