Prelaz Lius nad Ligosullom - Tersadia (from Ligosullo)

Access to starting point:
From the Friulian motorway, we exit at the settlement of Carnia and continue towards Tolmezzo and further towards the Monte Croce Carnico pass. At Cedarchis, we drive straight through Paluzza and Treppo Carnico. Above Ligosullo, the road swings towards Paularo and at the bend just below the Lius pass, an asphalt road branches off to the right with the sign Foresta Tersadia. We can park here (1032 m) or continue briefly on macadam to the signpost for path 409 or a few metres further to the barrier (1080 m).

Route description:
A narrow asphalt road runs right towards a few farmhouses. We head onto the forest path, which moderately ascends into a nice beech forest and in a few minutes we reach the beginning of path 409 (signpost). The path moderately diagonally rises through a nice beech forest and then starts to wind up to an altitude around 1400 m, where a long crossing begins that leads along the edge of the forest to the saddle Orteglas (1400 m). Here by the wooden bench on the left side we find signs for bivouac Valuto and mountain Tersadia, and to the right descends the marked path 409a towards Treppo Carnico. The direction of the path from this junction is towards the east. In the forest it starts to ascend more steeply. The path follows the direction of the ridge that connects Cimon with the Tersadia massif. Along the path we encounter the streams Rutandi and Orteglas, crisscrossed with crumbly gullies. Along the ridge the path goes just below the clearing, where there is the emergency bivouac Valore (1588 m, old stable in which there is a bivouac with bench, table, space for two armaflexes and open fireplace).
The path gradually leaves the forest and continues with an easy ascent on the northwestern side of the mountain. The trail follows in places a ruined mule track. On the saddle Tersadia a vast view opens towards the south. On our right (western) is the ridge with peaks Cima Valmedan, Monte Cucco and Monte di Rivo. From the southern side comes a well-visible mule track across the upper pasture Valmedan.
The branch of the path to the summit is a few metres before the vantage point, it is poorly marked but logical. It runs through the area of dwarf pines and scrub. Across open grassy terrain, with a view of the mighty Sernio, we gently arrive at the summit plateau, where there are remains of a building. Just below the summit (1959 m) there is also a large cross, marble statue of Mary and summit logbook, and on the top two panels with a description of the panorama.
