Potoče - Planinska koča pri Franciju (Juhantova pot)

Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana-Jesenice highway, take the Kranj-East exit, then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, leave the main road and continue driving left, then after a few 10 meters, opposite the company Jelovica, continue right in the direction of the village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads through the settlement Hrib, above which we arrive at a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Preddvor Senior Citizens' Home). Next follows a good 100 meters of light ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we drive past a few more houses along it, then before the Preddvor Senior Citizens' Home turn left onto a larger macadam parking lot.
B) From the Jesenice-Ljubljana highway, take the Kranj-West exit and at the first crossroad continue left. Further, we drive through the underpass under the highway, then arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The route ahead leads through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. At the end of Preddvor, only a few 10 meters before the road joins the main road Zgornje Jezersko-Kranj, we continue left in the direction of the village Potoče, St. Jakob and Potoška gora and lake Črnava. Further, the road leads through the settlement Hrib, above which we arrive at a crossroad, where we continue straight (left Hotel Bor and lake Črnava, right Preddvor Senior Citizens' Home). Next follows a good 100 meters of light ascent to the chapel, where the road turns right, and we drive past a few more houses along it, then before the Preddvor Senior Citizens' Home turn left onto a larger macadam parking lot.

Route description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the road which continues ahead from the parking lot. The road slightly ascends through the forest and after 15 minutes of walking brings us to "Podaka". Here we continue straight on the marked path to a fork which leads to Pusti grad, whose signs we follow for only a few 100 m. There the marked path turns left, and we continue straight on the unmarked path. The path leads us past a space for wood storage, where for only a few 10 m we step on an old cart track, then to the left branches off "Juhantova pot" to Sv. Jakob. The path ahead leads through the forest and gradually ascends. When we for the second time cross the new road, the path in switchbacks steeply ascends the slope and just before the hut joins the marked path. To the hut Koča pri Franciju there are only a few meters left. From the yard in front of the hut there are nice views on Škofjeloško hribovje, Julian Alps, and into the valley on Preddvor and in the distance on Kranj and Škofja Loka.
We can continue the path to Planinska koča Iskra on Sv. Jakob (5 minutes).
